    Description

    Shiny, intricate, over the top cake basket by Webster that shows the imagination of the Victorians.
    The heavy base metal cake basket has been silver plated and had a gold wash in the interior. The handle is ornate with floral scrolling and a bead finial. The basket well has a basket weave pattern with the interior sides tooled with scrolls, flowers and a dot edge. The basket outer surface has a repousse band on the lip and a large repousse band at the base edge. The four feet are very ornate with floral flourishes.
    There is a stamped mark on the base. It reads; TRIPLE PLATE ON HARD WHITE METAL- ESTABLISHED 1869 WEBSTER BRO and the number 88 .
