Vintage Small Plated and Glass Bridal Basket
Provenance - I purchased this at an antique store. It was sold as a soap dish. It is unmarked as to maker and metal content. I am unsure as to the age or purpose of this item. Therefore I will sell AS IS.
Size - 5.75 inches tall to the top of the handle x 4 7/8 inches long x 4.25 inches wide at the widest part of handle.
Frosted oval glass bowl insert shows some age with several visible bubbles in the glass and some stains from the metal tarnish. It is removable for cleaning.
I used a home test kit on the pierced metal basket and it showed positive for some silver, but only 800 at most.
The design on the pedestal is not well defined either due to wear of the soft metal or due to the plating over top the actual design.
The metal handle is slightly bent off center.
The soldering is rather crude.
Would make a nice antique looking soap dish. Also could be used to serve small candies or nuts.
