    Pairpoint Quadruple Silver Plate 1248 Brides Basket, Flower Girl, Folding Handle
    Bride's baskets were popular during the 1800s to scatter flowers from during the ceremony, hold the bridal bouquet after the ceremony, then later used to serve/display sweets, cakes, flowers, etc. Some had stands (this one does not, it has a footed bottom). Beautiful American antique!
    Stamped Pairpoint Mfg Co Quadruple Plate - which dates it somewhere between 1880 and 1900 (when the company was renamed to Pairpoint Corporation)
    Bottom is stamped 1248
    Oval basket with scalloped edge measures
    8 1/2 inches tall (with handle in up position) x
    11 3/8 inches long x 9 1/4 inches across
    Handle is hinged at either side and folds in both directions to lay flat along top of bowl
    Design is apples, leaves and branches in bottom of bowl; apple blossoms, leaves, branches, buds on either side of top rim; banded rim inside scalloped edge; finish is both matte and shiny in different areas
    Feet and folding handle both have decorative accents as well
