Dutch Scenes Pierced Bride’s Basket Putti Handle Marked
For consideration is this vintage bride’s basket featuring Dutch scenes around the wide rim of the basket. The flourished handle top has putti figures on the handle top (putti is the representation of a naked child, especially a cherub or a cupid in Renaissance art). This basket measures 8½ inches tall with the handle upright, the outside diameter measures 10 1/8 inches, the inside pierced diameter measures 7 inches, and the base measures 4 inches in diameter. The handle moves with ease and will maintain any position you put it in (it doesn’t flop), the wide band around the outside edge has figural images of Dutch scenes, windmills, boats, etc. The base is marked “Dutch Repca Quadru” (see photos), and at one time this must have been a shiny piece. It has been cleaned with Simichrome Polish and now has more of a pewter-look to the finish. There are no dents or dings or other issues noted. Buyer will pay Priority Shipping 4 pound box.
