ATQ.,Rogers Smith Co.Meriden CT.,Silverplate Bridal Basket on pedestal,Quadruple Plate, #1884.
Rogers, Smith was organized in 1857. The principal business was holloware. The company also supplied silver plated flatware using the designs furnished by others, which they plated, finished and stamped with their trademark.
By 1862 Rogers, Smith # Co. failed. The remaining assets were purchased by others and moved to New Haven.
In 1904, the Rogers, Smith line was discontinued.
Antique, circa 1857-1862.
Measurements: height with handle extended, 9.5”, diameter of bowl, 9”, width from end of handle to opposite end of handle, 9.75”.
Makers Marks: ROGERS SMITH & CO, MERIDEN CT, QUADRUPLE all in shield, 1884. Found on bottom . See photo’s.
Condition: Excellent/ Very Good. For a piece that is at least 160 years old, writer feels it is in Excellent condition. PLEASE SEE PHOTO’S.
FLAW: writer identifies one significant flaw. The handle, at the attachment to the bowl,has been repaired. It does not appear to effect the handle, standing or laying.
