Antique Yamatogumi Silverplate Ornate Basket Made in Japan 5"

Description

Featured here is an antique silverplate basket from Japanese manufacturer Yamatogumi. The basket has a nicely pierced free-moving handle which allows it to swing, and the basket itself is lined with floral patterns with fleur-de-lis designs as well. It looks as if the Japanese makers attempted to create a French inspired piece to export and sell better to European customers. The bottom has an interesting hammered pattern, with the Yamatogumi sailboat mark as well.
In good antique condition, with some tarnish spots, but no dings or deep scratches. Some underside shelf wear. See pictures for closer detail.
It measures 5 inches in diameter, and about 4 inches tall when the handle is extended. It weighs 8 oz prior to shipping.
