Antique Victorian Rogers & Bro Silver Plate Figural Pirate Man Footed Basket

You are viewing a unique pedestal silver plate bread basket, made by Rogers & Bro between 1874 and 1898.  It features an unusual, ornate boat shape with the bust of a bearded man at each end.  He wears what looks like a pirates hat.  I have not been able to identify a pattern or find another piece like this. The outer rim is decorated with a cast metal design and there is a cast shell detail at the area where the handle would attach.
There are also etched designs on the interior of the basket.
It measures 13" long, 6.5" wide and 4 5/8" high.
The piece was identified to me as a bread basket after I failed to find anything like it.  I hadn't initially noticed that it was missing it's handle.  It is not obvious and there are no sharp or jagged pieces where it broke off.  The piece has not been polished in any way, and there are areas of tarnish.
